1. Original work and rights
Only upload content you created yourself or have explicit, documented permission to redistribute. This applies to every file in your release — unit JSON, schematics, textures, images, and anything bundled in a ZIP.
- If a release includes work by another creator, obtain written permission before publishing and credit them clearly in the description.
- Do not re-upload another creator's Hub releases without their explicit, documented permission.
- Do not claim official starter status for community creations. Official starters are flagged by moderation only.
2. Third-party intellectual property (IP)
Minecraft is a registered trademark of Mojang Studios / Microsoft. Other third-party names, characters, logos, and brands belong to their respective owners.
Releases that include recognizable third-party IP carry significant legal risk. Specifically:
- Block builds that are clearly modeled after or replicate existing fictional characters, trademarked logos, copyrighted artwork, or branded game assets may infringe on those rights — even when no explicit name appears in the title.
- Do not upload releases that reproduce protected characters, logos, or designs as their primary content unless you have verified and documented permission from the rights holder.
- Labeling content as "fan-made," "inspired by," or "not official" does not remove copyright or trademark liability. These labels do not constitute a license.
- If a rights holder contacts MobCrafter Hub with a valid complaint, the release will be taken down whether or not you believe your use was permissible.
- When in doubt about whether a release infringes third-party rights, do not publish it until you have confirmed your position with a qualified source.
Examples of content that commonly carry IP risk: literal character reproductions from film, TV, games, or comics; branded vehicle or building designs; recognizable logos or wordmarks built from blocks.
3. Accurate metadata
Titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails must honestly represent what the release contains.
- Title: Use the name of your creation. Do not keyword-stuff with unrelated character names, brand names, or terms designed to appear in searches for unrelated content.
- Description: Describe what is included, any in-game requirements, known limitations, and version compatibility. Vague descriptions lead to bad user experiences and moderation flags.
- Tags: Use relevant, honest tags only. Do not add tags for characters or brands you do not have rights to reference, or for content that is not actually in the release.
- Thumbnail: Screenshots and thumbnails must show the actual release content. Do not use images that do not match what you are publishing.
4. Dependency disclosure
If your release requires any mod other than MobCrafter itself or vanilla Minecraft blocks to function correctly, you must disclose those dependencies in the release description. Missing dependencies are one of the most common sources of user complaints.
- List each required mod by name and minimum version.
- If the dependency mod is not on CurseForge or Modrinth, link to where it can be obtained.
- If your unit uses only vanilla and MobCrafter blocks, you may note "No additional mods required beyond MobCrafter."
5. File quality and safety
- Do not upload corrupt, empty, or placeholder files and mark them as complete, working releases.
- Do not embed malware, scripts, or any software designed to harm or deceive users in uploaded archives.
- Do not use deceptive file packaging — for example, hiding unrelated or harmful files inside a release ZIP.
- ZIP bundles must include a clear description of all included files in the release description so users know exactly what they are downloading before they open the archive.
- External URLs you provide must lead to the content you describe. Do not link to unrelated pages, ad redirects, or download walls without clear disclosure.
6. AI-assisted content
AI-assisted workflows are allowed, but require disclosure and human review. See the full AI Guidelines page for details. In summary:
- Select the "AI-assisted" or "AI-generated" creation method when AI contributed significantly to the release.
- A human creator must review all AI output before publishing to confirm it works in-game, is described accurately, and contains only what it claims to contain.
- AI generation does not change your responsibility to ensure the content does not infringe third-party rights.
7. Comments and community conduct
- Comments must relate to the release or the creator's work.
- Do not post spam, self-promotional links unrelated to the discussion, or off-topic content.
- Do not use comments to harass, threaten, impersonate, or demean other creators or users.
- Moderators may remove any comment that violates these rules without notice.
8. Enforcement
Violations of these guidelines may result in any of the following, at the moderation team's discretion:
- A moderation review and request for corrections.
- Rejection or unpublishing of a specific release.
- Suspension of the ability to publish future releases.
- Removal of the creator profile from public visibility.
